Very clever short mystery with lovely visuals and unexpected depth. On second playthrough I was pleasantly surprised by amount of subtle layers the story has. Made me smile. And shiver a bit.

About This Game
Every year you travel to this beautiful and remote part of the world to visit your oldest friend who lives an isolated life off the grid. Except this year for some reason and without warning, she’s not at home.
As you search for the clues that might help find your friend, things start taking a strange turn. Are you succumbing to cabin fever or could rumours of a mysterious lake creature actually explain her disappearance?
An avid social media user, you post regular photos and updates to your friends and followers. The tone you select for those interactions will go some way to determining whether you come through this experience unscathed.

Developer Commentary
I wanted to create a game inspired by my love of nature and the folklore that surrounds it. Growing up in Finland meant I spent a lot of time swimming in lakes and hearing about the Näkki, a creature used to scare children away from dangerous waters.I also wanted my game to feel contemporary and more in line with how people behave and interact in 2020. For better or worse we use our phones for almost everything so I wanted that to be a key narrative device.
Finally, in terms of gameplay and general atmosphere, I wanted to create an experience that was suspenseful, relaxing and slightly tongue in cheek.

Great game that makes me miss living in Finland even more! Cons: Maybe could be 30% cheaper for what it is A puzzle near the end stumped me until I watched another player play it, and the mailbox should be easier to find Feels like a plot hole at the end With the available material, also feels like the game could've been double the length with a bit more to explore Some bugs, especially relating to using a key (had to reload the game twice, from a savepoint, to retrigger the 'click' event of the key, after nothing happened the first time) Pros: The Instagram mechanic (best innovation I've seen in a while), got me addicted to checking comments and liking other people's comments The humour and variety of comments, a lot of the commenters were great characters to the story Great pacing, it transitions to different moods fairly well Attention to detail and art style, I loved seeing an accurate Finnish cottage and wood sauna Lots to explore and interact with on the single property Good so...
it's really not worth the cost. It's a less than hour game(do not buy it for more than $4. the ending does not make sense sorry can't do A then in the end B happens...it just doesn't make sense...I'd refund it but I somewhat enjoyed it because of the lake and the sunset, and I'm feeling generous
Going into it I obviously understood that this is a pretty short game, a simple game. I was excepting a quaint, cute little mystery game that I could maybe relate to a little bit as I am from Norway. That's more or less what I got, the story was fine... up until the ending which was just so stupid and a great way to just kill the entire story and all atmosphere and mood built up until that point. It felt like a horrible M. Night Shyamalan twist. The ending just made me shake my head and made me want to ask the developer "Why? Why did you chose to do that? Such a non-fitting way to end it, that just really doesn't belong in this game. You should've gone the same exact direction that the entire story had been going up until now! Why this!?" I probably would give it a positive review if the ending wasn't that. If the ending was good and kept on with how everything else was I'd probably be more able to look past all the other negative stuff because then it probably w...
The main character in this game suffers from SEVERE phone addiction and has to take a photo of literally everything to post on social media to recieve a dopamine boost from people liking and responding to the posts. Can't play this game for more than 5 minutes because the sound of the notifications every 3.5 seconds is giving me anxiety. Imagine going to a beautiful lakeside cabin in the heart of Finland during the midsummer solstice, and before you actually set one step inside the cabin where you will be staying you already posted 6 photo's and 11 comments on social media.
gotta say for a game that can be played in a single session in invoked more emotion than i was expecting hats off to the developers on this one
This was a fun little game. I actually found the game mechanics innovative. It soon became quite intuitive to check your character's phone during the adventure. The story progresses really naturally and is interesting to follow along.
Let's start with the cons: - low FOV got me motion sick, had to take breaks - no sensitivity slider (the sensitivity is really high) - no settings whatsoever - I got stuck two times, first time was my own fault and the second time I got a bug where the ending cutscene didn't play - the story could have been slightly longer And then the pros: - great sense of art style - good atmosphere - interesting story told in an interesting way - Finnish folklore - realized later that the low FOV adds to the experience (spoilers below) -
the low FOV added to the suspense and claustrophobia
-
did not expect the horror aspects at all, I was chilling until näkki got me good.
Despite the criticism I would still recommend this game as an interesting experience to have.
You don't fuck around with Nøkken. One of the most important folklores to teach children so they don't drown. Possibly as important as the Dodraug (Toilet draugen), mainly to scare children away from sitting on the toilet for hours reading comics. But I digress. Not worth the asking price (maybe 20 mins of playtime?) so get it during a sale. Got a tiny scare by not paying attention, and a nice little chuckle near the end.
This is definitely worth the six dollar price tag. Took me about 90 minutes, but I was lingering and looking at everything, because there's a lot to look at. As the hour gets later, the atmosphere becomes at once more beautiful and creepier. At the end, if all goes well for you, it is laugh-out-loud hilarious. Puzzles are logical (mostly driven by finding various keys). One good jump scare. And a lot of cell-phone interactions with a peanut gallery of friends, grumps, back-seat-drivers, and at least one ******, all of which decide your fate in the game. Be kind and act with sisu and enjoy the ride!
