About This Game

A scary bedtime story or a horrid physical entity?

The story goes that the toymaker is an undead figure who comes out at night leaving a toy on the children’s bedroom window to lure and capture them. Upon finding an old hidden journal, Blake discovers that a folktale passed through generations in his family might hold some dark secrets. He embarks on a journey to unravel what’s behind his ancestor's mysterious journal.

Return to your family roots, deep into a long-forgotten isolated 18th-century village called Grimmville where time has stopped.

Upon arriving at the abandoned manor, once you set foot inside suddenly you find yourself trapped. Equipped with a flashlight you must explore the rooms. Some of them are escape-room style. Your main objective is to look for clues in order to solve timed puzzles that will give you the necessary items to progress further and make your way out.

I hate games that if you fail, it takes you all the way to the beginning. That not a deal breaker tho. The deal breaker is the inertia. Inertia has no business in any game. If a dev HAS to use it, it should only be to simulate dizziness or when your swimming. I have never been walking with a flashlight, turned my head to look and had my entire body slide 5 ft in a radius or keep slide in my direction of travel. " But this game isn't based on realism!" Well then why not give me magical powers, a sixth sense or an arsenal of guns? Because its meant to be practical? The inertia isn't practical. Because your supposed to be disoriented? I'm in an huge unknown mansion with puzzles that I didn't even know were there and I have to solve them before the timer runs out. Pretty safe to say I have no idea what to do or where to go in this huge mansion. I could figure the puzzles out. That's no big deal. But I am not willing to put any more time in until I am able to toggle inertia off. I can't ...

It really looked promising and for $6, not too bad. Unfortunately it's glitchy. I couldn't do the globe puzzle because the puzzle pieces wouldn't go in place. I'd select them to use them and put them in the EXACT SPOTS they're SUPPOSED to go in, and then click to put them there and they'd just go back in my inventory. Unless there's some other way you're supposed to use them that's not made clear. Hopefully the game gets fixed over time.

Really enjoying it so far, there's quite a bit of stuttering even on low settings like its loading areas but i'm sure the devs will have that ironed out in no time, the graphics are gorgeous with a very nice welcoming setting, decent story and I've had a few nice scares, some good puzzles too, not too hard or too easy, just thought i would review it now as i think more people should play it especially for the price! Thanks for making it! i9-9900k RTX 3080ti 1440p on SSD 32GB RAM

I've played about 200 horror games and I am here to tell you that the timers on the puzzles are comically short. There is no autosave function so you have to save manually and I suggest doing so before entering any door that uses a colored key. Fixing the timer/autosave problem and making the last encounter less of trial and error and more of a fun experience would probably change this to a thumbs up from me.

I got through the game very well, after I figured out how to deal with the buggy save system and memorized all of the gameplay involuntarily. Items will be saved, actions are not. If you don't save at the right time with the right items, your file is ruined. To avoid problems:

Save before you open a colored door.
Don't open the mask cabinet and don't put a mask in it until you've got them all.
Once you have all three masks and the key to the mask cabin, save.
Now you can open the cabin, put the masks in it and open the entrance to the basement. If you die, you start over with everything to open the basement again. But anyway I wouldn't recommend it in this condition. You're definitely going to die at least once, and since saving is a science in this game, you're will have problems. There are also some other bugs and performance issues.

Optimization is really poor in this game. I was getting constant frame rate drops and heavy stutter while trying to play in 4k resolution with an RTX3080 and i9 processor no matter what I lowered the graphic settings down to. Also, the graphic settings often do not save and have to be reset every time you play. Another thing that bothered me was the low fov with no slider to adjust and a camera that swings, which caused me some nausea. However, the deal breaker for me were the forced timed puzzles where if you don't solve the puzzle in a very short amount of time you are killed and returned to the main menu. There are no hints for these puzzles either. Situations like this only cause frustration for me. Other than the timed puzzles, gameplay is a key hunt through a huge labyrinth of a mansion that looks more like an intentionally designed haunted house than anything real, where you look for keys and then try to remember which one of the hundreds of doors it goes to. Overall, I didn't e...

The game graphically is amazing, as well as the combination of timed puzzles to add to the creepiness. I did run into a few issues where if I died then the keys would not show as valid. I recommend saving often, but otherwise great game. I enjoyed it thoroughly. https://youtu.be/fdkLjJIWRDc

My first impressions of the game where nothing but positive, it was fun and not overly difficult......however it seems that if things are done out of order to any extent when it comes to the mask placement the game glitches, or my game just glitched to the point where it was no longer beatable(the progress reset after finding the last mask piece) and I would have to start over from scratch.......while it's not an overly long game and at some point I will do it just to see the ending. I would still recommend this game, until that point it was still a fun game!!! https://youtu.be/VzcQqqascDA
