About the Game

In a modern fantasy world, college dropout Grace is granted the power of a Muse - power she’ll need to find out the truth behind her predecessor’s death before time runs out. You’ll decide who Grace allies with, who she can trust, and who may betray her in this beautifully hand-illustrated roleplaying musical.

Written by David Gaider comes Stray Gods - an urban fantasy tale of finding your place, taking charge of your fate, and discovering answers. Your choices will change the endings, as well as the path you take to get there.

A compelling story of hope, self-discovery, and forging your path.

Adventure, love, and songs await!

Charm, negotiate, or strong-arm your way through their world as Grace, playing through original, fully interactive musical numbers composed by Grammy-nominated composer Austin Wintory, Tripod (musicians Scott Edgar, Steven Gates, and Simon Hall) and Eurovision Australia’s own Montaigne (Jess Cerro). Fully orchestrated and performed by an all-star cast, you’ll feel as though you’re right there on the stage. With thousands of potential variations based on your choices, you’ll craft the soundtrack to your own one of a kind musical experience.

Choice and consequence built from the DNA of RPGs - no two playthroughs are the same.

Delve into a hidden world of mythic Greek gods and monsters as you get to know a cast of hilarious, enigmatic, and compelling characters. Forget what you know about these mythological beings - in Stray Gods you’ll forge friendships and find foes with many familiar names, but not so familiar stories. Play as star and stagehand as you determine the story you want to tell through conversation and song.

Find friendship, love, or yourself.

Build friendships with mortals and Gods alike. Stoke the fires of romance if you so choose - explore, pursue, and confess your love with four potential paramours. Decide who you want to be through every choice. David Gaider’s storytelling and characters come to life with performances by an all-star cast, with the likes of Laura Bailey, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn and more cast members across video games, television, and Broadway.

A musical for video game lovers, and a video game for musical lovers.

With all the comedy and tragedy of your favorite stage shows, Stray Gods is a tongue-in-cheek and heartfelt reconception of Greek mythology combining what we love about contemporary musical theater with video games where character and story take center stage. Collaborating with some of the best in music, broadway, television, and games - Stray Gods is a debut not to be missed.

What a unique mechanic for a story driven game! If you are a fan of musicals or music in general then this game should be a must! The art style is beautiful, the world is rich and the characters complex. This game will have your emotions all over the place as you change from music style to music style in the middle of some very tense conversations! I loved the experience of this game and hope to play more someday!

I hate to be such a hater but unfortunately the music in this musical game is not very good

The art style of this game gives it a heavy visual novel feel and the music is stellar. The different options and personalities for Grace gives the game significant replay value along with different relationship endings and story beats. The only negative I have is sometimes the visuals and the audio aren't synched (best experienced during the song in the Underworld with Persephone) so it can be quite jarring to make a decision before the audio has caught up with the song. The DLC is also very charming with some more Hermes shenanigans and hopeless lover boy Orpheus.

I really liked this visual novel a lot. I enjoyed the VAs, the art, the Greek Mythos easter eggs, loved the murder mystery story, and even though the Gods current statuses hurt my feelings :'( I liked the humanity that was written into them. it's a shame that my least favorite part of a musical VN is the music. I don't know what happened with the music/lyrics because the dialogue was natural and enjoyable, but the musical numbers just did not hit with me (and I love musicals AND have low standards). I think maybe they needed another round of editing or perhaps someone else to step in and help? With that said, I don't think the awkward songs is reason enough to NOT play this VN! It still has an engaging story worth telling and I DO recommend it.

Incredible! Beautiful art work, amazing songs, fantastic VA actors, everything about it is incredible. Highly recommend to people who love musicals, greek mythology, and choice based games.

Fun quick game with Laura Bailey and Ashley Johnson as voice actors. Cool use of Greek Mythology in modern times. More of an interactive musical comic than a game.

Wow! What a wonderful experience this was. This game is a nice break from the typical style of games that we are used to, and a reminder of how stories and interactions are crucial to the experience and enjoyment we search for. This is an interactive narrative musical, that unfolds based on the dialogue choices you make. If you are a fan of Greek mythology you will enjoy this even more, but if not, this is still a great introduction that will make you want to learn more about it. The key aspect of the game is that you make decisions that will affect the path the story takes, as well as timed decisions withing the musical pieces that impact the song and affect the outcome you are trying to achieve. I've done one run and only have 35% of the trophies so will replay again after playing the Orpheus DLC, which takes place directly after the main story. This is a special game, that sparked that youthful joy in me that is so hard to feel again these days, and I appreciate everyone involved in...

What an excellent game! Very easy, loads of fun, and I already want to play again, which is good because the main story is about an eight hour play time! I haven't played the DLC yet and I am eager to, but at the moment, given how short the game is, and the fact that not everything is animated (the characters mouths don't move when they speak, just the expression changes), I would only buy it on sale. However, one of the companies is based in Melbourne and the Aus game industry looks very different to overseas models. Voice acting and singing was also excellent, shout out to Montaigne who helped write the music! Huge fan of their work :) a highly enjoyable game and I would definitely recommend it to all players, especially newbie gamers.
