Was really excited when I saw this coming out as I'm running out of new survival horror games to play. It runs very poorly on my Steamdeck on lowest graphical settings for a minute or two then crashes every single time I try. Frustrating, in this state I can't recommend. If this gets fixed I will edit this review. Going to wait a couple days to see if an update or patch comes out - if not unfortunately will have to refund.

About This Game
Origin Theory Episode One is a lighthearted story driven survival horror experience. Game has its classic bad guy, zombies, guns and nasty stuff, but the emphasis is on unraveling the mystery and not grinding down hordes of enemies and surviving bullet soaking boss fights.
Ethan is an oil rig engineer on a mission with his crew mates to respond to an SOS signal originating from an uninhabited volcanic island. They soon discover that the island is not without its residents and the mission takes a bad turn. Crash landed and separated from his crew, Ethan is taken deeper into the island complex.
Now alone and armed with only his ability to use duct tape, Ethan finds himself in the middle of a darkening mystery. Trapped inside the complex, Ethan must use his wits to escape, explore the shadows, fight for survival, find out the fate of his crew mates and unravel the mystery surrounding the island.
Unravel The Mystery
Follow a narrative experience and uncover the dark secrets behind the events taking place in the Ren island through the logs of the ill-fated staff and captives.
Collect Resources To Survive
Collect resources found and hidden throughout the levels to buy upgrades to your arsenal. Upgrade weapons with parts scattered along the way.

User Reviews
I wasn't really drawn into this game. There's some weird judders and spikes in the frame rate, often enough to make the movement unpleasant and clunky. The graphics are nice but everything else feels a bit goofy and the AI voices kind of kills it for me too. I get that voice acting is costly but I'd rather just subtitles than AI voices. Maybe this picks up later but it's a refund for me.
