About This Game

Omni Blade is an immersive and tactically challenging retro RPG inspired by classic games such as 7th Saga, Grandia, and Chrono Trigger. It features around 20 hours of gameplay, a thematically dense and dream-like narrative, as well as vibrantly colored pixel art - all brought to life by a beautifully evocative musical score! Omni Blade enhances replayability with procedurally generated levels and teammates that can be recruited in the order of your choosing. Built from the ground-up with a custom engine (Nu Game Engine), Omni Blade isn't your typical cookie-cutter indie RPG. If you're looking for the type of escapism and challenge from the old school era of console RPGs, Omni Blade promises you a captivating experience!

I played the first section. The retro pacing takes some time to get used to, but the slow drip of the story is worth it so far, and the battles are super nuanced and slowly evolve. I'm gonna keep playing. I think you just have to give it time. Something is happening.

Delighted to have discovered this gem! After only a few hours tackling Omni Blade with my 12yo, she told me she wanted to make her own video game in the same style. Love that. Excellent aesthetic, epic story, and plenty of unique mechanics that are nice and nostalgic but not overly derivative. Oh and the music is great which can easily make or break games like this. Surprised this doesn't have more attention, it should.

Fantastic tech demo however I think the design could have gone a bit differently. It is unfortunate that I am never going to see the full extent of locations and story because I have no patience to play this. For us fellow indie developers Bryan shows how important it is to make less game but more polished game. I'm sure there are people out there who genuinely enjoy this genre but I can't comment on that. Its a bit surprising however how little quality of life there is compared to how much "The Game" there is. On top of that game feels stretched out. Maybe its because my millennial synapses are burnt out from fast paced moba and RTS games but I'd much rather play this same format with a lot of speed, flashy particle effects, better designed UI and menus, etc. I'd rather have short but well polished game. I can positively comment on the mood however, game feels dark and isolating which well combines with challenging battles. Perhaps would make more sense for story-driven horror g...
