About This Game

The world ended 37 minutes ago
It is time to begin

Yaughton, Shropshire. 06:37am 6th June 1984.

Deep within the Shropshire countryside, the village of Yaughton stands empty. Toys lie forgotten in the playground, the wind blows quarantine leaflets around the silent churchyard. Down on Appleton’s farm, crops rustle untended. The birds lie where they have fallen.

Strange voices haunt the radio waves as uncollected washing hangs listlessly on the line. The televisions are tuned to vacant channels. Above it all, the telescopes of the Observatory point out at dead stars and endless darkness. And someone remains behind, to try and unravel the mystery.
Immerse yourself in a rich, deep adventure from award-winning developer The Chinese Room and investigate the last days of Yaughton Valley. Uncover the traces of the vanished community; discover fragments of events and memories to piece together the mystery of the apocalypse.

Featuring a beautiful, detailed open-world and a haunting soundtrack, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture is non-linear storytelling at its best.

-Lux æterna luceat eis, Domine.
The light we cast
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture is an immersive narrative experience, a walking simulator with a gripping story, beautiful graphics and stunning soundtrack. If you loved Dear Esther, Gone Home or What Remains of Edith Finch you will most likely appreciate what this game has to offer as well. Prepare for a dreamlike walk in 1984's Yaughton, an English village, where apparently everyone has vanished. Empty houses, cars left abandoned on similarly deserted streets: an inexplicable emptiness that would be terrifying, if only there wasn't such a mournful serenity to this desolation. -Requiem æternam dona eis, Domine. Despite Rapture's melancholic facade, watch out for lightborne poignance and the attrition that comes with everyday life. You may take a peek at vignettes from the lives of Yaughton's residents and bring their lowest points to light. In this most lonesome seance, bear witness: the people are go...

It's an ok walking simulator but the slowness of your walking, especially when entering any room, is so frustrating that i couldn't recommend this game. And i was pretty into the world/story/characters but exploring felt so tedious that it was making me mad. It feels done on purpose to make the game drag for longer. And i kinda got over it towards the end, until i had to sit through like 7 minutes of un-skippable credits, and only then i got the only achievement i received in this game. Who does this with a game of this scope? Every game that forces me to sit through the credits loses points from me instantly. Anyway, the best part of the game was the music, which kind of feels bad to see stuck in this game, because it's great.

I want to like this game but its just a walking simulator with hints of puzzle mechanics. The story could have had the potential to save it but in the end couldn't live up to its narrative-driven tag line.

Extraordinarily slow-paced and tedious, even as a fan of the genre of walking simulators this one is just incredibly boring and dull.

one of the most beautiful, heartbreaking stories I've ever experienced. the world is gorgeous for what it is, the voice acting is amazing, and the only real downside is the performance. It didn't run so well on ps4, and it doesn't run so well on my rig. either way, if you love walking simulators, a stunning and human story, and some absolutely incredible music, EGTTR is for you.

Beautiful. On Steam Deck with highest settings it is very impressive. Chilly and also very touching. And music is incredible too.

If you've ever wished that listening to The Archers was a more luminous, spiritual experience, then boy do I have the game for you...
